Copyright & Content Use Policy

This page explains what you may and may not do with material published on wearecalculator.com, how to request permission, and how to report infringement of our work. It supplements our Terms & Conditions.

1. Ownership and Reservation of Rights

All material published on wearecalculator.com — including written guides, explanatory text, worked examples, editorial notes, comparison and cost-of-living datasets as compiled and presented here, page structure, calculator implementations, and site design — is the copyrighted work of We Are Calculator, except where a third-party source is expressly credited.

Underlying facts, published government figures, and standard financial formulas are not claimed as our property. What is protected is our original expression: the way we explain, structure, compile, annotate, and present that material. All rights not expressly granted on this page are reserved.

2. What You May Do Without Asking

• View, print, and save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use.
• Quote a short passage (roughly a paragraph or less) for commentary, criticism, teaching, or news reporting, provided you credit We Are Calculator and link to the page you are quoting.
• Link to any page on this site. You never need permission to link to us, and we do not require a particular link format.
• Embed our calculators using the official embed code, subject to section 3.

3. Embedding Our Calculators

We provide an embed widget on calculator pages, and we are glad for you to use it on your own site at no cost. The licence is simple and conditional:

• Use the embed code exactly as generated, including the visible attribution line beneath the tool.
• Keep the attribution link intact, crawlable, and pointing to the calculator page it came from. Do not add rel="nofollow", hide it with CSS, or place it behind a script that removes it.
• Do not present the tool as your own work, rebrand it, or strip our name from the interface.
• Do not modify the widget to inject advertising, tracking, or third-party code.

This licence is revocable. If the attribution is removed or altered, permission to embed ends automatically and continued use is unlicensed.

4. What Requires Written Permission

• Republishing our guides, FAQs, editorial notes, or worked examples in whole or in substantial part, whether translated, reworded, or paraphrased.
• Bulk or automated extraction of our pages or datasets, including crawling at scale, scraping our programmatic page sets, or copying our compiled data into another product or database.
• Reproducing our calculator implementations or interface as the basis of a competing tool.
• Any commercial reuse of our content, including use in paid products, client deliverables, or advertising-supported republication.

Requests are usually straightforward and we often say yes. Write to contact@wearecalculator.com with the specific material and intended use.

5. Automated Access, Text and Data Mining

We publish a robots.txt file and expect automated clients to honour it. Beyond that, we expressly reserve our rights in respect of text and data mining, and we do not grant a licence to reproduce our content for the purpose of training, fine-tuning, or grounding commercial machine-learning systems without written permission. Rate limiting and access controls protect the availability of the site; attempting to circumvent them is a breach of our Terms.

6. Reporting Infringement of Our Work

If you believe a site has copied our content, we would like to know. Email contact@wearecalculator.com with the URL on our site and the URL of the copy.

7. If You Believe We Have Infringed Your Work

We take third-party rights seriously and will act promptly on valid notices. To submit a copyright complaint, email contact@wearecalculator.com with the subject line "Copyright Notice" and include:

• Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
• The exact URL(s) on wearecalculator.com where the material appears.
• Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

We will review and, where the notice is valid, remove or disable access to the material. If you believe material was removed in error, you may send a counter-notice to the same address containing the equivalent information.

8. Corrections

If we have used your material without proper credit, tell us — in many cases the fix is an attribution or a link rather than a removal, and we would rather correct the record than argue about it.
